24 entries.
Let me start with the chapter from "Zuhause in Schwalbach" (At Home in Schwalbach). This is a moving and honest account of Luz's life in the Philippines, training as a nurse in England and then moving to German. It is noteworthy that it was the girls who were courageous and went overseas. Luz showed heaps of courage during her life and this helped her cope with challenges. None more so than battling with serious illness with the loving support of Berni, their adult children and the joy of the grandchildren as well as other members of the family and friends.
One short sentence from the book describes Luz so well. Ich fühle und denke global. I feel and think globally.
My friendship with Berni started in 1974/75 when I spent two semesters studying at Freiburg University. I was working in London in 1976 when Luz met Berni. I really enjoyed meeting her and later visiting Luz and Berni in Dusseldorf. Some years later I was living in Hamburg, which was far closer to Schwalbach than New Zealand.
I really enjoyed my visits to Schwalbach and Luz was always so welcoming.
The funeral service was beautiful and a moving tribute to Luz. I particularly enjoyed the stories that showed what a special person Luz was.
May Luz rest in peace. Sylvie joins me in extended deepest sympathy to Berni and all the family.
Best wishes
Simon
Dear Berni
I was so sad to hear from Simon that Luz has died. I send my sincere condolences to you and your family. Luz was always so warm and friendly and I have happy memories of some of our times together in London in the 1970s and in Germany in the 1990s. I had fully intended to attend the live stream of Luz’s funeral but was unable to make it. I will light a candle here in New Zealand for Luz and for you and your family. Much love to you all.
Rest In peace, Luz. ❤️
Niki
Dear Luz, You are gone but your memories will always remain. Rest in Peace-
Cher Monsieur Junemann,
Luz was a wonderful person, wife, mother and friend. A passionate traveler and woman whose home was always open for friends from over the globe. She passed away too early, miss her very much.
To the Junemann Family ,
Our heartfelt sympathy . No words can describe how grateful we are unto the Lord for your sincere love and humble spirit towards us . Thank you for the memories we have shared with auntie Luz and with the whole family . Forever we treasure it in our hearts . Amidst the distance we remember you in our thoughts and prayers! We miss auntie Luz daily phone calls . We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity to my late father and to our whole family . Forever we will always remember . Thank you so much auntie Luz for the love you showed us and we love you even more ! We miss you !
We have been attending the very decent farewell via live stream this morning and we were overwhelmed by emotions – by deep sadness over the irreversible “good bye Luz” and by profound gratitude for the love you all gave to Luz in return for her lifelong loving care. We highly appreciated the recollection of your mom’s fulfilled life and we enjoyed the pictures that chronologically summarized the highlights of the same. Not to forget the short hilarious description of Luz’ amusing traits in the eulogy of Marita. The pictures of Luz on the left and right side of the pulpit were just beautiful. They emanated the bright light Luz always stood for. Nomen es omen and Luz at all times fully lived up to her name. Luz is light and this light will never be extinguished – neither in your memory nor in ours. Dear Luz, rest in peace!
Liebe Luz 😊,
immer
in unserem ❤️ behalten.
gibt Mut
& Kraft
& stützt in schweren Zeiten
& nun darfst du beim Vater sein
schmerzfrei und „einfach DU“.
Es war eine große Freude & ein Segen
DICH kennen zu dürfen ❣️
Unser herzlichstes Beileid & Mit-Trauer mit Berni , ihren Kindern & Enkelkindern.
Elke mit Anna-Lena und Tom-Lukas

Dear Bernie and family,
My deepest condolences and sympathy at your difficult time and sorrow.
I will miss Luz very much! she is a very kind, friendly and very brave woman. I would not forget some unforgettable moments I had with Luz and you. When I came for a holiday with Cecil in your place in Germany, Luz and you took us to the place where our Phil. hero, Dr. Jose Rizal wrote his famous book "Noli Mi Tangere"; and the university where he studied; Luz and you in Hawaii and in Isle of Wight during the weddings of Rachel and Cynthia. Surely, I will miss Luz so much! May she rest in peace with our Lord in heaven, where she would not have pain anymore, no problems and worries but peace and contentment. Bless her and I pray for her soul!
Praying for your strength at this sad time. We will miss auntie so very much but will remember her strength and kindness always. May she rest in peace knowing how much she was loved by us all. Until we meet again auntie x
With sincere condolences to all the family. Luz was an exceptional person, kind and generous and always thinking of others before herself. We will miss her very much and it was a great pleasure to have known her. Friends from the time of her first visit to us when the airline managed to lose her luggage. As ever, she just got on with life without complaint.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
The Dale family

Dear Bernie and family, we are very grateful for the long, common time and miss Luz with it positive charisma, which has always done us well. She'll always have a place in our hearts. Barbara and Eckart

Dear Bernie and Family
It is with great sadness that we write this.
We have lost a beautiful, charming and delightful friend.
Your family Bernie is so close and so tightly woven. And as a family you have contributed much to help others in this world. The values that you and Luz have held close and have passed onto to your children clearly display the wonderful parental skills of Luz and yourself.
Luz will be missed.
Our sincere condolences.
